I’ve just completed and installed a giant copper owl sculpture commission for a private woodland in Devon and am now creating 6 steel and wire insects (and a web) for the new Dobbies Garden Centre opening soon in Shepton Mallet. I’m going to be working flat out to meet the end of May deadline! My work has also recently included outdoor sculptures for Garden designer Jason Nosworthy, as features for his Show Gardens at the Bath and West – a large copper wire web and a nest woven from steel rod and copper wire. Another exciting project will be working with children from All Hallows Prep School, Cranmore as an Artist-in-residence, creating a huge steel, wire and found materials chameleon in their woodland in June. Followed by drop-in Adult Wire Workshops at the Larmer Tree Festival, Dorset and Workshops with a Bridgwater school, making wire and paper carnival headdresses/sculptures in July. May just manage to get away for a break to Chicago to stay with friends at the end of July with my son before the onslaught of Somerset Art Weeks ’09 in September!
In the following months my work will be on show at The 2009 Mythic Garden Sculpture Exhibition, Stone Lane Gardens Arboretum, Stone Farm, Chagford, Devon TQ13 8JU from 11th May – 3rd October, 2 – 6pm daily; Art in the Garden at The Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, near Romsey, Hampshire, 24th May – 26th October; Wildlife Artist of the Year ’09 Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London, 1st – 6th June; Devon Sculpture T.R.A.I.L., 19th July – 6th September and during Somerset Art Weeks ’09 with 5 other artist/makers in a wonderful barn setting at Fosse Farm, Fosse Road, Oakhill, Somerset BA3 5HX, from 19th September – 4th October, 11am – 6pm daily. My work can also be viewed at Ginger Fig Gallery, Taunton.
