BRIDGWATER COMMUNITY SCHOOL – CARNIVAL HEADDRESSES
For the past two days, I have been working with students from Bridgwater Community School to produce some wire and paper Carnival Headdresses, as part of their curriculum enrichment. The Year 7 & 8 students were incredibly motivated and the outcomes were a visual feast! Here are a couple of examples…
Over the weekend I ran some drop-in Adult Wire Workshops at the Larmer Tree Festival. There were plenty of participants who all produced some wonderful pieces – from dreamcatchers using found materials incorporated into wire and wicker frames to wire creatures and button-decorated tiaras! Most impressive was a wire larmer man made by Julie. She worked on her piece all day, then gave it to her friend as a present! Below are a few photos:
This piece – entitled ‘Seaweed’ – will be exhibited on Teignmouth seafront during the Summer, as part of the Devon Sculpture TRAIL from 19th July – 6th September 2009. Around 50 artists are participating in this Recycled Art in Landscape Sculpture Trail, with 3d work displayed in various coastal locations between Dawlish and Shaldon. See http://www.trail.org.uk/ for further details.
