Just been to a meeting at Stourhead today about our Sculpture Trail in September. Stourhead looked so gorgeous in the sunshine, with buds blooming and daffodils out. The Trail – created by 4 Scraptors – is going to be fab, and as long as it doesn’t rain, the launch will be a very inspirational event!
We are looking for sponsorship (some already secured) and contributions of scrap (ie mild steel, wire, colourful bottles/tops and buttons) to create pieces for the Trail. To donate please contact: (01749) 880394
I felt very fortunate this morning to have been given 2 large 6mm off cuts of steel sheet and have them plasma cut for me (by Sam in Doulting) into the shapes I wanted. They will form the bases of 2 Cocoon pieces I’ve been working on – ready for my Bridgwater Exhibition in May:
I will be running a series of wire workshops at Ginger Fig Gallery, 1b Bath Place, Taunton, Somerset TA1 4ER this year. An intimate space surrounded by inspiring art work! The first two are timetabled on Thursday 31st March and Thursday 30th June, 10am – 4pm. A chance to explore new techniques and create an item for your garden or interior! Initial line drawings will lead to a simplified design for your wire template. Various wires will be used to make your final 2-d or 3-d piece. A range of skills will be taught – from design concepts to wirework. For more decorative results you may wish to add beads and buttons and other recycled materials. Suitable for all abilities. For further details visit: www.gingerfig.co.uk. To book please contact the Gallery: (01823) 326798. See examples of previous participants’ wire pieces below:
