I developed a project Life in the Undergrowth, inspired by hidden worlds in my garden that get overlooked.  A fascination with the entanglement of roots, worms and shoots in upturned turf led to experimental responses using to-hand materials and objects. Drawings and sculptural works evolved and I made a short film.

This drawing came from that time. I was clearing my pond and found the iris roots irresistible.
